Recess SolutionsAn extension of the classroom.
Recess and physical education are not breaks from learning. They are part of it. Movement, structured play, and coach-led social interaction develop the executive function, resilience, and self-regulation that classroom academics depend on.
Since 2013, CORE has partnered with elementary schools across Orange County to make sure the active part of the school day delivers what kids actually need: expert coaching, small-group attention, and an SEL-informed curriculum that builds character alongside athleticism.

Start a conversationFour parts. Every class.
Every CORE after-school class follows the same proven arc - movement, skills, character, and play. The repetition is the point: kids know what to expect, coaches know what to deliver.
Dynamic warm-ups build coordination, cardiovascular health, and the focus required for the work ahead.
Basketball, soccer, baseball, flag football, and more - taught in age-appropriate progressions with real coaching.
Sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and resilience woven into every drill and every game, not bolted on as an afterthought.
Coach-led challenges and team play let kids apply new skills in a fun, competitive setting with real-time feedback.

Recess Solutions
Structured recess that builds physical literacy, reduces bullying, and supports the classroom.
Most recess yards are unsupervised and under-resourced. The result: anxiety, exclusion, and missed opportunities for the kind of structured play that genuinely supports learning. CORE Recess Solutions changes that.
Our trained, SEL-certified coaches lead organized activities designed to improve student physical activity, reduce bullying, enhance emotional regulation, and increase prosocial behavior. We work with your team to build a sustainable program your staff can run long after our initial sessions end.
We meet. First, we learn your school's values, current recess landscape, and what you are trying to fix.
We assess. A clear-eyed read of your needs, your space, your staffing, and your timeline - with specific recommendations to match.
We plan. A custom 5-month program timeline aligned with your school year - August to December, January to May - with goals, budget, and PTA partnership options where helpful.
We integrate. Onsite coach-led implementation paired with professional development for your staff, so the program runs itself long after we are gone.
Five pillars that show up in every CORE program.
What structured play actually does.
Three peer-reviewed findings that ground the CORE approach. Recess is not optional infrastructure. It is academic infrastructure.
Adult supervision, equipment access, and proactive conflict resolution directly support executive functioning, resilience, and self-control. Bullying drops significantly.
California schools that prioritize physical activity report positive correlations between student fitness levels and standardized test scores.
Unstructured or unsupervised play environments can drive anxiety and depression. Safe, well-managed recess does the opposite - it reduces psychological distress.
What every CORE Athletics class delivers.
A huge thank you to the CORE coaches for always being engaged in your junior athletes and fostering their development, both athletically and personally. Our son loves basketball and his coaches - he is soaking up all the wisdom about being a good team player.
